Exposing the “Isms”: Overcoming Unconscious Bias and Microaggressions
Unconscious biases are assumptions we make and prejudices we have without even realizing it. These can lead to unintentional subtle and hard-to-name acts of inequity, which grow to become barriers of shared mission and vision (camaraderie), productivity, innovation or sustainable growth personally and professionally. Learn how to identify those biases and mitigate microaggressions in the workplace.
Power in Difference: Cultivating Cultural + Emotional Intelligence
According to research, emotional intelligence accounts for more career success than IQ. Leaders who have cultural intelligence (CQ) have a higher propensity to be perceived by their teammates as empowering or transformational rather than dictative or directive. To operate successfully, leaders need to adopt and display leadership styles that best match the cultural expectations of their staff. Learn about empowering leadership styles and their positive impact on the psychological wellbeing of teammates and organizations.
Beyond Allyship
Navigating the "Dos and Don'ts" of allyship can be challenging, even for the most well-intending team members. In "Beyond Allyship," our inclusion experts will facilitate a candid conversation about the importance of allyship, how to create greater inclusion and equity through acts of allyship, and how to avoid traps of performative or counter-productive behaviors when striving for allyship. Learn new terms and frameworks, connect with your teammates, and get geared up for impactful action!
Anti-Racism + Allyship
Provide your team with a space for grounding and sharing of how public media, recent events, and the current racial climate is affecting them, build foundational competency around anti-racism and allyship, and identify ways to practice these skills on your team and in life.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, + Accessibility 102
Building on the 101 workshop, but customized with your organizational culture as an overlay. We’ll help you learn to frame and constructively define what diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, belonging, and anti-racism looks and feels like within your team or organization.
Inclusion Alignment
Having a hard time aligning your team on an inclusion approach? In this facilitated listening session your leadership team will collaboratively explore team and organizational ("ways of working") barriers to achieving inclusion and anti-racism goals. Our approach in facilitating this session draws from Systemic Constellations, The Circle Process, and other methodologies for Inclusive Communication.
Being Good at Change
Any cultural shift relies on an organization's ability to be growth-oriented and good at adapting. This training supports a foundation of organizational agility that will enable your team to adopt and integrate authentic inclusion behaviors and practices.
Culture + Values

Avoiding Traps of White Supremacy
White supremacy values have been historically constructed into the social, political, and economic landscape around the world, seeping into professional norms and standards. This session helps participants identify traps of white supremacy and examine how we might shift ways of working to more equitable, diverse, and inclusive practice.
Trauma-Informed Products and Services
Trauma can range from an interpersonal to a sociopolitical experience. Oppression (and specifically racism) is an example of both. In order to engage people from a wide range of identities, it’s important to understand the role that trauma plays in engaging with challenging topics like identity and systems of inequity. This session provides an overview of trauma, its impact on individuals and groups, and the cultural importance of applying a trauma-informed framework in your work.

Equitable Pricing Philosophy
The Darkest Horse offers our services on a wide sliding scale. Our sliding scale is an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably among organizations we work with, including schools, nonprofits, and community organizations, especially organizations that are majority-owned by leaders with intersecting marginalized identities. Paying at the higher end of the scale makes it possible for us to work with such organizations.
URGENCY STATEMENT
We ask that clients reach out, engage us, and commit to working with us at least 3 months before the required delivery of service(s). However, we acknowledge that some things require urgent attention and may need to be delivered earlier than the 3-month window. For those engagements, we charge an additional 30% fee. This allows us to be intentional and equitable with the allocation of our time, energy, and resources.
